What is the MAX solar input on the Walrus G3?

The Walrus G3 supports two different ways of charging from solar: direct PV panels (off-grid) and grid-tied solar through your home’s main electric panel. The maximum input depends on which setup you are using.

Direct PV Solar (off-grid setup):

Input Voltage: 90–230V DC

Max Solar Power: up to 5,500W

Number of Panels: Depends on the wattage and voltage of each panel.

This setup is for connecting solar panels directly to the Walrus G3 to charge it when you are off-grid.

Grid-Tied Solar (home setup):

Connection: NEMA 14-50A port with breaker to your home’s main electric panel

Charging Path: The Walrus charges through the 50A AC input, not directly from panels.

Panel Count/Wattage: Not relevant, since your home system manages the solar before it reaches the Walrus.

For simplicity, BatteryEVO offers complete PV solar + Walrus kits, which include panels matched to the Walrus G3 for easy setup.

How long can a G3 battery power my home or devices?

The 22kWh battery inside the Walrus G3 can typically power essential home appliances for 1 to 2 full days, depending on usage.
For example:

-A full-size fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, and laptop could run for 2+ days;

-A microwave or air conditioner can be supported for several hours;

-Power tools or water pumps (if used intermittently) are easily handled.

Your actual runtime depends on your load: lighter loads last longer, while heavy appliances (e.g. HVAC or EV charging) consume energy more quickly.
With its 50A AC output, the G3 is capable of running most standard 120V and 240V home devices, including well pumps, washers, and even split-phase equipment.

Can I install this system myself, or do I need a professional?

The Walrus G3 is designed for easy installation and comes pre-configured with internal wiring.
If you're replacing an existing off-grid system, you may be able to install it yourself using:

The built-in NEMA 14-50R or SS2-50P AC output ports

Standard PV input ports (for solar connection)

A single wall-mounted unit with plug-and-play design

However, if this is your first time setting up an off-grid power system, we strongly recommend hiring a certified electrician — especially to ensure safe wiring, grounding, and proper breaker sizing.
