How long can the Mantis battery power my home or appliances?

With a built-in 20kWh lithium battery, the Mantis system can typically power essential home appliances for 1 to 2 days on a full charge, depending on usage.

For example:
-Whole-home load (with A/C or electric stove): up to 10–12 hours at full capacity draw;
-Work-from-home office (200–400W): up to 40 hours;
-Coffee maker or microwave (1000W+): 15–20 uses.

The actual run time depends on how many devices are running at once and their total power draw. With efficient energy management and solar recharging, many off-grid users report 24/7 autonomy when paired with enough solar input.

How much solar input can the Mantis handle, and how do I connect panels?

The Mantis features four MPPT input ports, each rated for 120V to 500V DC and up to 14A of current. This allows you to connect up to four separate solar strings, one to each MPPT input, for flexible system design and efficient solar harvesting. The connectors are screw terminals (not MC4), requiring 12AWG solar PV wire per input.
IMPORTANT: Turn off both the MPPT and inverter switches before making any connections.

For example, using our recommended 550W solar panels (Voc 49.9V, Isc 14.0A), you can configure:
-2 panels in series ≈ 99.8V — minimum viable startup voltage (for warm climates);
-10 panels in series ≈ 499V — just under the MPPT max limit (for cooler climates).

For other type of Solar Panels: Do not exceed 500V input or 14A current on any MPPT. Adjust your setup based on location and panel specs.

Can I install the Mantis system myself, or do I need a professional?

The Mantis system is not a plug-and-play unit — it requires direct AC wiring for both grid input and output, including connecting L1, L2, and N lines manually. As shown in the installation guide, you must:
-Use 12 AWG wires for the grid connection.
-Strip 18mm of insulation before inserting the wire into terminals.
-Route wires through the correct GRID ports (L1/L2/N) as labeled.
-Ensure grid voltage is within the supported range before connection.
-Shut off all circuit breakers prior to wiring.

Subpanel is Not required in the Mantis system. The Mantis system comes with built-in AC coupling, which means:
-You can directly wire your electrical loads to the Mantis AC output terminals — no separate subpanel is needed in most setups.
-In larger home installations, a subpanel may still be useful for organizing circuits and improving load management — but it’s optional, not mandatory.

In short: If you're unsure or working with grid-tie/off-grid hybrid scenarios, always consult a professional to ensure code compliance and safe operation.
